If you like nothing better sometimes than settling down in front of the tv to binge-watch your favourite show. Whether it be war documentaries, house renovations or those edgy nordic murder mysteries there is always something to tickle our fancy.
If you hadn't noticed, we're all fairly fond of cars here at Parkers and this obsession stretches into our television choices too. As such, we've chosen our top car-based television shows to stream
The best car tv shows to watch
The Grand Tour
best car show for entertainment value
These three presenters have been the face of car television for the best part of two decades and now they're taking the internet by storm too. The Grand Tour is fundamentally a silly car show filled with explosions and comedic crashes but it is also very easy watching and enjoyable for non-petrolhead audiences. The latest episode features three unreasonably large American cars travelling across Scotland where much hilarity will undoubtedly ensue.
Top Gear - Motors, Mischief & Mayhem
The best car show for easy watching
Another easy to watch car-based entertainment show, Top Gear had a rocky couple of years but is now becoming rather good again. It's roughly the same format as before, filled with supercars, cheap car challenges and a fair bit of bickering but it's also incredibly easy watching. And you can count your lucky stars that Chris Evans is no longer on it.
The best show for amateur mechanics
A fine TV show for car fans, the laid back presenting style and simple premise make this a very interesting show to watch and enjoy. The show follows Mike Brewer and a mechanic (previously Edd China, then Ant Anstead and now Marc "Elvis" Priestley) as they restore an older, neglected car and try and sell it for a profit. The show has been going since 2003 and is a great way of learning about car maintenance and cleaning.
Best show for crazy car builds
If you love seeing weird cars that are only fit for the scrapyard turned into dangerous speed machines, Roadkill is the perfect show for you. The presenters are charming and bring a very amateur-mechanic approach to each build. Previous cars they've built include a Jaguar XJ12 made into a drag racer and a low rider that was used for off-roading.
Best tv show for driving enthusiasts
The most serious car show we like watching, there isn't the usual entertainment value for non-car fans here. However, if you're a fan of some of the best cars ever made and enjoy some seriously stunning scenery then Petrolhead Planet is a perfect watch. It features journalist Jethro Bovingdon driving some of the best cars ever made from the likes of BMW, Porsche and McLaren in some seriously beautiful locations.
Most heart warming car show
It's always sad to see someone's pride and joy laid idle due to poor health which is why Car S0S is such a heartwarming show. Each episode takes one of these cars and secretly restores it for the owner. It's sprinkled with a car review and some bad acting but the raw emotional appeal as the restored car is unveiled in front of them never gets old. The rest of the show could be a soundless black screen and it would still be worth a watch for that ending.
